When my dragons are grown, I will take back what is stolen from me.
I've decided to try something new. I'm making my default new entries public instead of friends-only. We will shortly see how much I regret this. Probably a lot.
Is there actually any benefit to this? I know many of you keep your journals public.
I did eat an ant.
It was a little black one who bit my ankle. It didn't taste like anything. I did squash her first because I didn't want her biting my esophagus on the way down. Maybe it's the larger, plumper ones that have a lemony flavor. Nate says he's eaten ants before and they were spicy. This one wasn't spicy.
TODAY, a dragon.
We were going to go to the Georgetown Flea Market to look for planters for my industrious little tomatoes, but there was a shit ton of traffic on Piney Branch so we went to the National Zoo instead. I'm not actually big on zoos; most that I've seen have been horrifically underfunded, and it's the animals who suffer for it. The Atlanta Zoo is particularly painful to visit. This one is funded by donations and the federal government, so it's doing okay for now. The elephants especially had a nice area, as did the lions. The lady lions didn't even have to share with the one male lion, and I know they were happy with that arrangement. There are wires strung across part of the zoo for the orangutans to go from one area to another; there aren't any cages around the wires. I think that's neat.
It turns out I didn't take any pictures except for one of HCGS next to a Komodo Dragon, and it's on Instagram if you want to see my Khaleesi and a dragon.

I'm happy you've made your journal public, I'm useless at posting or commenting much but I love your writing so reading the entries you're comfortable sharing is a bonus.

I didn't know anyone was interested in seeing public entries. Interesting!

You will hopefully be pleased to learn that I have reconsidered this plan!

I saw the photo on your instagram. Love it :D

Yeah, I really don't know what I was thinking. Sometimes I'm like, "this is no big deal, nothing private really" and other times I'm like "I don't want random people seeing into my psyche"

I guess the main benefit of unlocking is potentially attracting new readers or making new friends. I surf friends' flists sometimes if mine is slow, and I've connected with new people that way. There doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason to my own flocking, though.

I like new friends, but hmm. I think I'm going to base each entry's status on what I say in it.

I haven't been to a zoo in years; I'm glad that you had a nice time at the National Zoo.
I've had my journal friends-locked for a while - except for a fairly new 'friends-only' post - and I just feel better with it staying as such.
