I love your freckles. I mean, the freckles that you put on here. Not.. well, ok. You know what I mean!

You really like that side of the body, huh? I noticed that all the artses you posted have all the people facing in the same direction. I think it's neat!

[identity profile] zeitgeistic.livejournal.com 2006-12-14 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I had freckles. Cute ones, you know. I used to go tanning when I was in high school, but it gave me freckles. Not the cute ones across my nose and cheeks, but the kind all over my forehead and chin and neck and stuff. But then I stopped going and they faded.

I think that 'that side of the body' is the unfortunate result of never having training in drawing or anatomy. Everything I know about the human body and its form is just from my imagination/looking at people so sometimes it's hard for me to draw something different. When I'm really trying, I'll have faces and bodies that are angled differently, but these were just quick sketches and whatnot.

Anyway, I've noticed the same thing; maybe I'll try to wean myself off that side of the face.

Thanks!

Maybe it's because we're right handed? Right-facing portraits are really difficult for me, too. I was thinking it's because it's easier to slide my right hand left than it is to slide my right hand right. And three-fourths give me trouble, too. Usually, I make the faces too wide and I end up doing a sacrilegious amount of erasing.

Nice work. I like everybody's lips and Hermione's hair.

Thank you!

(And thanks for telling me where you saw me. It's nice to know that I've been posted elsewhere. Makes me feel all fuzzy inside.)

Oo, I love Ginny especially, such a great facial expression and nice lines to it.

Thanks. I've had that one sitting around in my closet since this summer. I think it's probably my favorite.

Thanks! Your Weird Sisters logo is to die for. I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, I don't have a decent printer right now, much less iron-on paper, so it'll be a while before I get around to it. I'll definitely post it and link to you when I do, though! THanks a majillion!

[identity profile] zeitgeistic.livejournal.com 2006-12-14 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, BTW, do you have a higher resolution/larger picture of it?

They're all great! Awww, Ron!

Every artist in the world is going to turn their noses up at me, but I used Bristol paper. *cringes*. You know, the kind meant for dry media...

I like it better than watercolour because the surface is smooth instead of textured. Makes it easier to keep lines straight.

The Vellum texture, btw.

The way you've rendered Ginny's hair is wonderfully stylized, and I love her expression -- it's clear looking at her that this is a thoughtful and strong woman.
